Privacy: what we collect, which is almost nothing
By ReputationKiln Editorial · Published
We built this site to collect as little as possible, and we hold ourselves to it. ReputationKiln has no sign-up, no newsletter, no contact form, no accounts and no analytics, so we do not collect personal data about you through this website. The small amount that is processed happens at the infrastructure level, to deliver the page and keep it safe, and it is set out plainly below.
A site that exposes how businesses harvest, gate and track people cannot do those things itself and expect to be believed. So this is not a long policy written to cover a lot of data collection. It is a short one because there is very little to describe.
What we do not do
We do not ask for or store your email address. We do not run a newsletter, a lead magnet or a contact form. We do not use Google Analytics or any other analytics tool, no advertising or retargeting pixels, no social media trackers, and no cross-site tracking of any kind. We do not build a profile of you, and we do not sell, rent or share personal data, because we do not collect it in the first place. There is nothing to buy here and nothing to sign up for.
What is processed, and by whom
When you load a page, our hosting and security provider (Cloudflare) processes a small amount of technical information, including your IP address and basic details of the request, in order to deliver the page to you and to protect the site against attacks. This is standard for any website and is necessary for the site to work at all. We do not use this information to identify or follow you around, and we do not combine it with anything else. The lawful basis for this limited processing is our legitimate interest in keeping the site available and secure.
Cookies
This site sets a single cookie, and only for security. It is a strictly-necessary cookie placed by Cloudflare (technical name __cf_bm) that helps tell genuine visitors from automated bots, and it expires after about thirty minutes. Because it is strictly necessary, no consent banner is required for it. We set no analytics, advertising or marketing cookies at all. The cookie page explains this in full.
Your rights, and how long we keep things
Under UK data protection law and equivalent laws elsewhere, you have rights to access, correct or erase your personal data, and to complain to a data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office). Because we do not hold a database of personal data that can identify you, there is usually nothing for us to retrieve or delete on request, but you are welcome to contact us with any question. We keep no personal database of our own; the limited technical logs used for security are held by our provider for a short period and then discarded.
Who we are, and contact
This site is published by Kiln Guides. If you have any question about privacy, or want to exercise a right above, email hello@kilnguides.co.uk and we will respond.
We will update this page if our practices change, and the date it was last updated is shown on the site. If a change ever meant we started collecting personal data, we would say so here clearly and explain why.
